  Buddy Program

Barriers exist between the able and disabled because of lack of opportunity to do anything in common together. By bringing them together in a FREE program of sports and arts at Break the Barriers, our vision is to remove the barriers while celebrating all levels of victories and achievements.

Students are transported to the Buddy Program by school bus or transported on the Break the Barriers bus, driven by Co-Founder of Break the Barriers, Steve Hergenrader. Each class participates in a one hour program every other week. Within the hour, students experience gymnastics, dance, martial arts, sign language and basketball.

Students from Pinedale Elementary in Clovis Unified School District.

Most schools do not have the facilities to offer state-of-the-art physical activity program during the school day. The Buddy Program allows seven major school districts, and many other local agencies in Fresno County to capitalize on the space and expertise of the Break the Barriers facility and staff.
