Romania twice, China last year and South Africa in
2008 - the Barrier Breakers are models of Inclusion
across the nation and throughout world. As Break the
Barriers' Ability Awareness and Outreach team, they
travel throughout the US and Internationally. As a team
or individually, they perform, give testimonies, and
are keynote speakers at conferences, churches, seminars
and educational workshops an average of twice a week
throughout the year. Their busy schedule will continue
in 2008.
At home, new curriculum for implementing Inclusion
has reached schools, universities and Ability Awareness
programs and centers at record breaking participation
from children and adults of all ages, backgrounds and
economic levels.
Internationally, representatives from Romania came
to Fresno to be trained and get a better understanding
of methods and practices for special needs children.
And in August, Break the Barriers will host representatives
from China.
Funds are scarce for the team to travel, whether across
town, Florida or Washington D.C., Romania or China.
Equipment, uniforms, auto and airfare costs continue
to rise. The team needs your help to continue the important
work they do!!
In May the Barrier Breakers will be traveling to South
Africa as part of their continuing work as ambassadors
for Ability Awareness and Outreach. Each team member
needs to raise $3,300 for their travel and expenses.
A fund drive has started with a goal of reaching $75,000.
We are asking that when planning your annual budget
for 2008, you put the Barrier Breakers at the top for
your annual giving. Team members invite your company
to become a "Barrier Breaker Partner" by gifting
$1,000, $3,000, $10,000 or more to the Africa Fund.
To become a "Barrier Breaker Partner" with
a gift of $10,000, your logo or company name will be
proudly monogrammed on the team warm-up jackets. Gifts
of $3,000 or more will be mentioned in all media spots,
brochures and publications at home and printed materials
taken to Africa.
A return envelope is enclosed for your convenience
in sending in your tax-deductible 2008 gift today.
Sincerely,
Barrier Breakers of 2007-2008
