Ability Awareness, Outreach & Education

Secret Pocket
Through the doors each day, several hundred children come to Break the Barriers. The goals of each child are similar yet unique to their own Ability. They are eager to master their skills and share in the excitement of accomplishments achieved by others. However, we often have children who must put their victory on HOLD for another day for financial reasons. A Secret Pocket Sponsorship is a way to allow a child to participate and enjoy the experience. A Sponsorship is $504.00 for a year of classes. Any donation is greatly appreciated.Secret Pocket Sponsors can experience the excitement of barrier being broken and knowing that the pocket you filled will help other children celebrate victories.
Buddy Program
Programs
Ability Awareness Outreach & Education Funds outreach & education seminars, workshops, presentations and performances, inclusion literature, and handouts. Students who qualify for the outreach teams must pay for all performing attire and transportation (across the city or internationally). These students are ambassadors for inclusion who use visual arts that enable audiences to immediately understand the benefits and rewards of inclusion.
Grants
Join in the PEP Fun!
Break the Barriers manages the
Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP) grant
from the US Department of Education in partnership with the Fresno County Office of Education, school districts, and community partners. The PEP grant provides training for county, district, school, and community agencies to increase the amount of time that school-age children and youth spend in physical activity. The PEP program also creates awareness of healthy habits and good nutrition. Activities, such as swimming, cycling, gymnastics, soccer, sports and recreation are offered after school, evenings, and on Saturdays. Contact Break the Barriers if you would like to participate in any of the PEP activities.
